Our promise
One year, in writing.
Every Walnich piece carries a one-year warranty against defects in manufacture and workmanship under normal domestic use. Here is exactly what that covers, what it does not, and how to make a claim.
Cover period
From the date the piece is delivered.
Applies to
Catalog and commissioned work alike.
Outcome
Then replacement, then refund.
What is covered
For twelve months from delivery, we cover defects in manufacture and workmanship under normal domestic use. Natural characteristics of solid wood, including normal expansion, contraction, grain variation, color variation, and other inherent timber features, are not considered defects.
- Manufacturing defects affecting the structural integrity of solid wood components under normal domestic use.
- Defects arising from the assembly process, including issues relating to the construction methods and workmanship used in the manufacture of the furniture.
- Failures of integrated functional mechanisms supplied as part of the product, where the failure results from manufacturing or workmanship defects.
- Defects in materials that are not attributable to natural solid wood behavior, environmental conditions, humidity changes, sunlight exposure, excessive dryness, excessive moisture, or improper maintenance.
- Defects in the factory-applied finish that occur under normal indoor use and are not caused by heat, liquids, alcohol, sunlight, chemical reactions, or unsuitable coverings.
What is not covered
Solid walnut behaves like the living material it is. Most of the list below is not damage at all — it is the timber doing what timber does.
- Walnut is a living material. Grain, color and figure vary from board to board, and every piece darkens and mellows with light and age. This is the character of solid wood, not a defect.
- Solid timber expands and contracts with humidity. Small gaps that open and close through the year, and hairline surface checking, are normal and expected.
- Scratches, dents, water rings, heat marks, fading from direct sunlight and patina on the finish. Hard-wax oil is designed to be repaired locally — we will tell you how.
- Damage caused by placing a piece in sustained damp, in unheated storage, in direct sunlight, or beside a radiator, air conditioner or fireplace.
- Impact damage, overloading, standing on a piece, transport by a third party, attempted repairs or modifications, and damage from unsuitable cleaning products.
- Our furniture is built for domestic interiors. Contract, hospitality or outdoor placement is outside this warranty — talk to us first and we will quote accordingly.
Making a claim
- 01
Get in touch within the year
Email or call the workshop as soon as you notice the problem, quoting your order reference and the name of the piece.
- 02
Send photographs
One wide shot showing the whole piece in its room, and two or three close-ups of the fault. If it is a joint, photograph it from more than one angle.
- 03
We assess
A maker reviews it, usually within two working days. We may ask a few questions about where the piece lives and how it is used.
- 04
We repair, replace or refund
Repair at the workshop wherever possible — that is almost always the best outcome for a solid timber piece. If a repair is not appropriate we replace the piece, and if we cannot replace it we refund it.
We cover the cost of collection and return for approved claims within Thailand. For pieces shipped overseas we cover the repair itself and agree freight with you case by case before anything moves.
The fine print
- The warranty runs for twelve months from the date of delivery and covers the original purchaser. It is not transferable if the piece is sold on.
- Proof of purchase — your order reference or invoice — is required for any claim.
- A repair or replacement does not restart the twelve months; the original delivery date still applies.
- Replacements are made in the same timber and finish. Because walnut varies naturally, a replacement will not be an exact color match to a piece that has already aged.
- This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer and does not limit them.
