The material
Walnut earns its price over decades, not on the showroom floor.
We buy kiln-dried American black walnut in the board, not the sheet — and we sort it by hand for colour and figure before anything is cut. Sapwood is set aside. Boards destined for a single cabinet are book-matched so the grain runs unbroken across every face.
The finish is a plant-based hard-wax oil rather than a lacquer film. It leaves the grain open to the touch, repairs locally instead of needing a full strip, and lets the timber darken to a deep chocolate over the first few years rather than yellowing under plastic.
